This 5 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla trekking safari is an interesting short safari that starts and ends in Kigali Rwanda. The safari will take you to the two most visited gorilla destinations that is Volcanoes national park in Rwanda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda where you will be able to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas in their environment.

Detailed itineraries
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes national park
Depending on your arrival time at Kigali international airport on the first day of the 5 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then go for a short city tour in Kigali where you will be able to visit the Kigali genocide memorial Centre, Kimironko market, Art centers among others. After the city tour, you will have lunch and later start the safari to Volcanoes national park which takes about 2 to 3 hours drive. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Ibyi’wacu cultural tour
After breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to go for gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the gorillas which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where they are located. Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat.
After the encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will return to starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and later meet up with your driver guide to go for an interesting Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people, learn about their culture, tradition, way of living, enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On the third of the 5 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park with stunning views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery among others on the way. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

After breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, you will have breakfast, carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and start trekking in the jungle with an experienced park guide. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.
During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, birds, plants and once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, breastfeed, groom young ones, take photos and record the moments to show people back home after the safari.
After the one hour with the gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and later meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Departure to Kigali
On the last day of the 5 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali with en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Kigali international airport for your departure flight.
