Bungee jumping experience : Most people who first Uganda’s capital of tourism in Jinja will attest that one of the most sought-after activities to do and take part in is the bungee jumping experience done at the Itanda falls along the River Nile. But as many people as look forward to this experience in Jinja, as many are always wondering what really this experience entails and what they should expect as they are on this Bungee jumping experience. Well, in this article we do our best to break down the Bungee jumping experience generally for you to have a light of what to expect.
The Bungee jumping experience is an adrenaline rush experience that puts you on top of the water in suspension for a while and then you are released into a boat on water where your detached from the suspension rope and then continue on, with the rest of the water exploration.
Before you hang in air over the water, you will have a safety and instruction briefing that will literally take you through the whole activity and how you will be strapped etc, you will also be briefed on how to stay before, during and after the experience. In this briefing you will also have the introduction to the equipment.
You will then have equipment fitting and harnessing, you will be weighed in and jump classified. When all this is done you will go up the Platform sometimes called a bridge ascent from where you will be released for the bungee jump. Don’t be in a hurry to jump, take some time to enjoy the scenery from the top, you will be amazed at the picturesque views around.
Well, your instructor will now support you and guide you on how to take the leap into air off the platform attached to the bungee cord, you fly free into the air over the water swinging upside-down over the river Nile. While in air you will feel the adrenaline rush, blowing of the wind, the bungee cord stretching and rebounding etc. You will oscillate and bounce in motion for a while and when you are done people in a boat will be waiting for you, to catch you and dismount you off the bungee cord and ride on the boat out of the water.
When you are done with the experience, you will have a lot of emotions only you can explain, but most of all we know you will be beyond glad you did the jump. Well, you will have a time to relax before, do what you want – take pictures, sit etc and after you will go on with the rest of your day.
This activity itself doesn’t take more than 20 – 30 mins but the other additional things that come with the bungee jumping may take this time up to an hour or an hour and a half; depending on several factors.
Bungee jumping is best done during the dry season, less risks and interference, however we have seen a few people tempt to bungee jump in very light showers. Well, the good thing there are safety measures always to keep safe as you enjoy this activity.
Bungee jumping is done almost every day along the Nile River, but the experience has to be booked at least 7 to 4 days in advance. Then please, though this is a fun activity we do not advise people with heart disease or those with diseases that affect your heart rate, we think this is not an activity for you.
