Ngamba island is a project of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) and is found in one of the most popular countries in East Africa-Uganda.
Ngamba Sanctuary’s unique grounds were established in the year of 1997 and it provides a home for over forty orphaned chimpanzees to live while educating visitors and the local communities about their remarkable species and the importance of conserving their fragile forest habitat.
Ngamba consists of approximately 100 acres, accompanied by 98 of which are forested and separated from the visitor’s area by an electric fence where the chimpanzees roam through the day and also get a chance of becoming more close to the rapidly changing world that we are living in today .
Ngamba sanctuary in a conjunction with the wild frontier offer chimpanzee encounters as a half or also full day excursion. While on these favored grounds you will get great opportunities of viewing all other kinds wildlife animals, that are hidden in Uganda making it to be totally different from all other countries in East Africa.
At this sanctuary you will have an opportunity of viewing either morning or afternoon feeding of the chimpanzees from the visitors platforms area along the sanctuary fence and be educated about the species by a specialist. You will also have other wildlife encounters or even take a sunbath and have some refreshments in order for you to totally relax to create more space in the mind.
There are different trips that are prepared in this place and some of them include, the half day speedboat trips. This trip starts from 9:00am and then expected to end at 1:00pm and this is the program for the morning viewing and for the afternoon viewing it starts at exactly 12:45pm, and ends at 5:00pm and the journey time is approximately 50 minutes. The weather dependent price includes return boat transfers and island entrance fees which are subjected to minimum numbers on board and also residence category.
And this is followed by the full day traditional motorized canoe trips which start in the morning from 8:000 am-3:00 pm and the afternoon viewing is 10:30am-5:00pm. The journey takes time of approximately 80 minutes and is weather dependent. Life jackets and rain suites are provided for all on board members and also you get an opportunity of feeding these unique animals known as the chimpanzees. This will also help you to come more closer to wildernesses and nature of this place.
Visitors health check ups are also carried out, and this is only applicable for the visitors that are planning to participate in the forest walk and caregiving. The accommodation rates of this place are affordable and these range from luxury, midrange and budget accommodations.
