This 10 days Uganda honeymoon safari is a once-in-a-lifetime safari that will take you to interesting destinations in Uganda, including Jinja, where you will engage in exciting white-water rafting and a source of the Nile boat cruise.

The safari will also take you to Lake Mburo National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and Kibale Forest National Park where you will be able to spot animals like buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, impalas, oribi, topi, hippos, and Nile crocodiles, among others.

During the safari, you will also engage in an interesting gorilla and chimpanzee trekking experience where you will get an opportunity to spend time with the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to a hotel in Entebbe

Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe International Airport on the first day, you will be welcomed by a driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris, briefed about the safari and then transferred to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja—source of the Nile boat cruise

Have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the hotel and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Jinja via Mabira Forest and Sezibwa Falls. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch and later go for an amazing boat cruise to the source of the Nile with great views of the River Nile and bird species like kingfishers and eagles, and reptiles like snakes and monitor lizards, among others.

Later return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Whitewater rafting adventure

After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer you to the banks for the adventurous white water rafting activity, which takes you in the middle of the river Nile, passing through turbulent rapids that range from grade 1 to grade 5 and offer the best rafting experience. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park—walking safari

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda. On the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe to buy craft souvenirs and take pictures and then proceed to Lake Mburo National Park.

Upon arrival in Lake Mburo National Park, you will connect to your lodge for lunch, after which you will go for a guided nature walk in the park where you will get up-close and personal with wildlife species like zebras, giraffes, warthogs, and impalas; listen to the sweet sounds of birds singing in trees; spot different bird species; enjoy the cool breeze and quiet environment; and take beautiful pictures, among other things. After the walking safari, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Take early breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive where you will be rewarded with views of animals like buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, giraffes, elands, topis, impalas, zebras, oribis, and Uganda kobs, among others, in the open savannah plains.

After the game drive, you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with lunch en route on the way and stunning views of the beautiful scenery, hills, plantations, homesteads, and more. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking experience

Have breakfast and later  the driver guide will pick you up with your lunch box to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations.

After the briefing, you will be subdivided into groups of 8 people, where each group will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek, an experienced park guide and park rangers. Trekking mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes about 2 to 7 hours depending on where the mountain gorillas slept the previous night.

During trekking, you will be able to view other primates, spot different bird species, plants, and others.

Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them, where you will be able to learn more about their behaviors; watch them feed, play, rest, breastfeed and groom young ones; take photos; and record incredible videos.

After the face-to-face encounter with the gentle giants, you will trek back to the park headquarters, where you will receive your certificate for participating in the interesting gorilla trekking experience, meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Guided nature walk and Batwa cultural tour

Enjoy breakfast at leisure and later meet up with your driver guide to go for a guided nature walk in the park where you will be able to spot different bird species; primates like l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and chimpanzees; enjoy views of the colorful butterflies, plant and tree species; and enjoy the cool and quiet environment in the forest, among others.

Later return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will go for an exciting Batwa culture tour where you will interact with the local people in the neighboring community, learn about the culture, history, and way of life, visit coffee farms and learn how coffee is processed, and listen to their ancient stories and enjoy their traditional performance, among others.

After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Kibale forest national park

You will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park. On the way, you will have a stopover for en route lunch and proceed with great views of the crater lakes, tea plantations, Rwenzori peaks, among others. Upon arrival in Kibale Forest National Park, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

After taking breakfast , the driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer you to Kanyachu visitor’s center for a chimpanzee trekking briefing, after which you will start trekking in the forest with an experienced park guide in search of the habituated chimpanzees.

Trekking for chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park takes about a 2- to 5-hour drive, and during trekking, you will view other primates like red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys and spot different bird species like the green-breasted pitta, blue-headed bee-eater, and dusky crimson wing, among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them, learn more about their behaviors, take pictures, watch them play, hunt, fight, feed, breastfeed young ones, rest, make nests, and record videos, among other things.

After the chimpanzee trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will go for an amazing nature walk in Bigodi Swamp, spot different primates and birds like the great blue turaco and butterflies, and visit the neighboring communities and craft shops, among other things. Later, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe

Ejony a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala/Entebbe. On the way you will enjoy a hot en route lunch and proceed to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of convenience.
