This 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth safari is an interesting safari that starts and ends in Kampala. The safari will take you to Lake Mburo national park where you will be able to view different animals like buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, oribi, waterbucks, impalas, elands, warthogs, zebras, hippos among others during the game drive and boat cruise. The safari will also take you to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will be able to spend time with the chimpanzees and also spot animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, warthogs, bushbucks, waterbucks and different bird species.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Lake Mburo national park-evening game drive

Depending on your location on the first day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Lake Mburo national park. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator where you will buy souvenirs and then proceed with great views of the scenery, terraced farmlands among others. Upon arrival in Lake Mburo national park, you will check into the lodge for lunch where after you will relax at the lodge and later go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view animals like waterbucks, giraffes, Uganda kobs, impalas, zebras, buffaloes among others. After the evening game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

On the second day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth safari, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in the park where you will be able to view animals like waterbucks, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, oribi, topi among others which will be grazing in open savannah plains. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise where you will be able to view animals like hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs among others drinking water along the shore, view different aquatic bird species like the elusive shoebill, cormorants, hornbills, kingfishers among others. After the boat cruise, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park-afternoon boat cruise

After a relaxed breakfast on the third day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch where after you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. During the boat cruise you will be able to view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs among others drinking water along the shores, view water birds like cormorants, hornbills, king fishers, fish eagles among others. After the boat cruise which takes about 2 to 3 hours’ drive, you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and evening game drive

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge with your packed lunch to go for a chimpanzee trekking briefing in Kyambura gorge. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest with an experienced park guide which takes about 2 to 5 hours. During trekking, you will be able to view other primates, plant and trees, different bird species, colourful butterflies, bats among others and once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat which helps you to watch them feed, play, breastfeed, learn about their behaviors, take photos and record videos.

After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will return back to the lodge for relaxation and later go for an evening game drive in Kasenyi plains where you will be able to spot animals like elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, bushbucks, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas among others if you are lucky. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning game drive and departure to Kampala

On the last day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a short morning game drive in the park where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed the previous day. After the game drive, you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Kampala with en-route lunch on the way and then proceed to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight.
