Bwindi Impenetrable national park is the highlight of gorilla trekking destinations in Uganda and above all, it harbors half of the population of mountain gorillas that are remaining in the world. The park is positioned in the south western part of Uganda in the Kanungu district, estimating 8 to 9 driving hours from the south west of the capital city of Uganda. This national park first gazette in late 1991 to conserve and protect the endangered mountain gorillas and in 1994 is was declared as a UNESCO World heritage site dues to it’s rich in biodiversity and ecological purpose and it’s under the protection of ‘’UWA’’ Uganda wildlife Authority the body that manages all the ten national parks in Uganda. However, Bwindi impenetrable national park as a total area of about 332 square kilometers and it lies at an altitude of 1160meter to 2607meter above the sea level. Bwindi was infamously known worldwide because of being a home of the highest mountain gorilla where you can visit and leave with a quite unforgettable experience in a lifetime.   • Batwa people: Before the existence of this park, Batwa pygmies where the first migrate people to live in Bwindi forest with mountain gorillas and used to eat the same fruits with these apes in harmony.   • Gorilla trekking: This is the major done activity and the best memorable encounter in lifetime carried out in Bwindi impenetrable forest. Bwindi gorilla trekking allows trekkers to move in group of 8 people per trek into the tropical montane rainforest in search of the habituated gorilla families. The park harbors with 19 habituated gorilla families splinted in four sectors namely Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo and Rushanga but each in different locations of the park. Gorilla trekking starts early in the morning have visitors breakfast, the driver drives you park headquarter for briefing about the rules to be followed while trekking. After you meet a ranger to but you must be 15 years and above that is starting trekking age, the ranger leads you to forest trailhead to trek gorillas and this is an activity that can last 30 to 7hours depending to their location. Bwindi Impenetrable national park is open throughout the year but the best periods to visit the park is during the dry season in the month of June –September and December to February these are the right month to visit the park when the road are passible and the forest tail heads are dry without muddy and being slippery.

Getting to Bwindi Impenetrable national park

Bwindi Impenetrable national park is located in the south western region of Uganda and can be reached either by road and air transport means.
