12 Days Best Uganda Wildlife Special

Day 1: Transfer to Gulu town

Have breakfast and begin your journey to Gulu town in Northern Uganda; this is an interesting drive on a smooth road and there are a number of optional activities en-route notable among them being a visit to Zziwa rhino sanctuary. Have lunch en-route and proceed to Gulu arriving in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Bomah Hotel Gulu

Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo national park and evening game 

Breakfast will be served early and embark on your journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. This is a 3 to 4 hours drive with eye-catching sites along the way including the Mantattas (small grass thatched houses) and the scenic views of the hills which separate the lands of Acholi and Karamoja.

You will also cross some seasonal rivers and arrive Kidepo Valley National Park well in time for Lunch and an evening game drive in the Narus valley. Dinner and overnight at stay at Kidepo Savannah Lodge.

Day 3: Game drive in Narus and Hot springs visit.

Wake up to an energizing breakfast amid tranquil nature and head out for a game drive in the Narus valley-known to posses the largest buffalo herds than anywhere else in the entire world. There are also high chances of spotting big cats on a hunt and on a lucky day; you may spot the rare cheetahs too which are endemic to Kidepo in the whole of Uganda. The Valley is also renowned for mammals such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, zebras and birds. The valley is home to the only permanent source of water – the Narus River and thus a convergence place for a lot of game.

Return to the lodge for lunch and unwind a bit before embarking on a drive to Kidepo valley close to south Sudan boarder to visit the hot springs and you can encounter Ostriches within the region although their numbers are highly threatened by poaching by south Sudanese. Dinner and overnight at lodge as above.

Day 4: Transfer to back Gulu town

Have breakfast and begin your journey to Murchison falls national park via Gulu, en-route lunch in Gulu town, arriving in the park late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Paara Safari lodge

Day 5: Delta game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After morning breakfast, you will embark on a game drive at the delta and expect to see variety animals including elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Hartebeest, Uganda kobs, Oribis and waterbucks. After the drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon go for a boat cruise on the along the Nile which will give you an exciting panoramic view at the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls. You will encounter crocodiles, hippos, and birds on the river banks like kingfisher, cormorants and bee-eater.

You will then hike up to find the falls through Bakers trail and also be able to stand at bakers stone (brings you closer to the bottom of the falls) this hike is a bit tuff but it’s fascinating as you will enjoy to see the falls at different points and finally when you reach at the top of the falls, you will be amazed and eventually forget about the tuff hike. After spending a good time at the top of the falls, you will meet your driver who will transfer you back to your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at as above

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale

After early morning breakfast, you will drive out of the park to embark on a full day transfer to Kibale national park via Hoima with lunch. Arrive in the park late evening and check-in your lodge for a restful evening, dinner and overnight stay at Kyaninga lodge (luxury), Chimps Nest (mid range), Chimpanzee guest house (budget)

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth

After early morning breakfast at the lodge, connect to Kibale forest for your chimpanzee tracking experience with your packed snacks and water. You will first report at the park head quarters for a briefing before entering the forest for the activity. During your tracking, expect to see a lot of primate species like chimpanzees, monkeys and other animals like the forest elephants, buffaloes, bush pig and duiker, warthogs, reptiles as well as a colorful variety of butterflies. Return to the Lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth national parkUganda’s second largest national park. This is a 3 hours drive from Kibale forest national park. You will have a stopover at the equator and take pictures then proceed to the park. Relaxation, dinner and overstay Mweya safari lodge (Luxury), Park View Lodge (Midrange), Pumba Safari cottages (Budget)

Day 8: Game drive and Afternoon boat at Kazinga channel

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will set out for the morning game drive in search for early risers in the Kasenyi area. The park has diverse Eco-system of grassy plains, rivers, crater lakes, forests, swamps and lakes. These are a home to various types of wildlife (big 4) and a game drive in Queen Elizabeth will reward you with views of animals such as lions, leopards, forest hogs, buffalos, elephants, waterbuck, Uganda Kob and other types of antelopes.

Return to your Lodge for lunch and after, go for a 3 hours launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This cruise will let you pass through a place of the highest concentration of hippos and you may also see many animals drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise also offers good platform for photography, bird watching and games.

Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha sector for the tree climbing lions then later proceed to Bwindi-home to the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. Arrive late afternoon at the park and check-in your lodge where you will rest, dinner and overnight at

Mahogany Springs lodge (Luxury)/Ichumbi Gorilla lodge

Day 10: Gorilla trekking experience

Have very early morning breakfast and drive to find the park offices for briefing about Mountain Gorilla trekking by the park warden then connect to the forest to search for the gorillas. The time taken is usually between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Meeting the gorillas unexpectedly is one of the most captivating lifetime experiences. You will have a chance to observe and take pictures at very close range. After an hour with the long-awaited gorillas, your ranger guide will lead you back to the starting point where your driver will readily be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge for a restful evening. Have dinner overnight stay at lodge as above.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park and afternoon boat trip

Wake up early and embark on exploring the park’s beauty on a game drive and be able to view wildlife including the Zebras, Impalas, buffaloes and other Antelopes species. Later in the afternoon, head for your boat trip on Lake Mburo to explore water animals including crocodiles, hippos and different bird species like Fish Eagle and the rare shoebill stork. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight stay at Mihinga lodge (Luxury), Rwakobo Rock (mid range), Eagles Nest lodge (budget)

Day 12: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

After have breakfast, meet your driver and embark on your 5 hours drive to reach Kampala, however you will have a stopover for lunch then also at the Equator if you want to do some shopping. Connect to Entebbe Airport for your afternoon flight back home.
